A former Colorado deputy prosecutor and law clerk with the Alaska Court System, Matt comes to the firm with experience in the courtroom both as an advocate and from behind the bench.

Matt attended Southern Oregon University in Ashland, and returned to his hometown of Spokane to attend law school at Gonzaga University School of Law. During two years of law school, Matt interned for the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Washington, where he helped draft appellate briefs to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals as well as handled a docket of misdemeanor cases. Matt continued with criminal law as a county deputy district attorney in the Eighteenth Judicial District in Colorado.

After earning his law degree in 2007, he moved to Alaska where he had the privilege of clerking for five years in the Superior Courts in Bethel, Nome and Kotzebue. Matt had limited judicial duties as an appointed deputy magistrate for three years during two of these clerkships.

Matt is a trial lawyer dedicated to general civil litigation. He is as comfortable in a courtroom conducting a direct examination as he is researching and drafting a motion for summary judgment in complex civil litigation cases.

In the time he is not thinking about or working on cases, Matt enjoys hiking, camping and fishing. He has been married to his wife Christina for four years, and is the proud owner of two cats.
